Bernice (Johnson) Herman, Class of 1932, is riding her scooter five years ago, at the Nashua All-School Reunion Parade. She has the distinction of being the Queen for the Nashua All-Class Reunion this year because at 102 years of age, she is the oldest registered alumni. See story on page 6A... Full story

Glasgow Boy Scout Troop 861 spent the Independence Day Weekend serving food at both the John Hahn Memorial Softball Tournament and the dedication ceremony for the Northeast Montana Veteran's Memorial in Fort Peck. The Scouts are hoping to raise the funds necessary to take the six-man troop on a week-long canoeing expedition in the Minnesota Boundary Waters during the summer of 2017. I attended two Nashua School board meetings last week. I no longer have a child at Nashua School. My husband and I no longer work full-time at the school, but we are very involved in extra-curricular activities. We both graduated from schools that have closed their doors. While serving food with the Boy Scouts at the Veteran’s Memorial Dedication in Fort Peck on Independence Day, I was taken off-guard by a comment made by a woman and her husband. They said they were surprised to see Boy Scouts and didn’t know they still existed. They added that it was nice to see young men with their pants pulled up, clean cut, behaving respectfully. The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team welcomed 280 swimmers over the Fourth-of-July weekend for their annual invitational meet. Events started the morning of July 2 at 10 a.m. after Glasgow resident Hannah Mickelson sang the national anthem for the crowd. The Glasgow Reds faced the Glendive Blue Devils in back-to-back double headers last week. For their first two games of the stretch, the Reds were in Glendive on June 28. Marvin Pearson, 90, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, at Pondera Extended Care Facility in Conrad, Mont. There will be a family memorial at a later date. He was born on March 24, 1926, in Glasgow, Mont. He and Vivian farmed in Glasgow until 1961, then in the Choteau area until 1979, at which time they moved to Conrad where they have farmed ever since.
