An explosion of currently unknown origin demolished and burned a northwestern Glasgow home Friday, June 10, at 6:22 a.m. badly injuring the occupant and completely destroying the home. The Valley County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking information regarding the whereabouts of Robert J. Willenborg, 59, of Buena Vista, Colo. Valley County Search & Rescue assisted in the removal of Willenborg’s vehicle, a white pickup truck, from the Missouri River near Boy Scout Park, where it was discovered submerged by a local boater on June 12. The Glasgow Kiwanis Thunder swim team competed in their second meet of the season June 10 and 11, traveling to Scobey for two days of racing. The team was represented by considerably more swimmers than at the previous meet held in Harlem, and the Thunder earned fourth place overall. The rain stopped just in time for the 18th Annual Open Golf Tournament on June 12. The teams came out to support a great cause and great community, even with 1.5 inches of rain on the course. Each of the 18 teams registered, had breakfast and were all ready to tee off by 9 a.m. Every hole featured a different game for everyone, with the winner taking home wonderful prizes donated by local businesses. The sand drags and mud bogs held at the Valley County Fairgrounds this past weekend drew a respectable number of drivers and spectators. The Sunday mud bogs was the most popular event, with nearly 300 spectators on hand to watch the competitors try to make their way through several feet of muck and mire.
