St. Raphael's held their annual Mardi Gras Carnival on Feb. 11, where families of all ages came out to have fun and enjoy games, good food and prizes. Valley County HOPE Project will be launching their “Hearts Of Hope” Campaign on Valentine’s Day! This is based on the previous luminary idea, but with a new twist. Instead of selling luminary bags, we will be selling 8” wooden hearts. A heart can be purchased for $10 in memory or in honor of a friend or loved one. We have also added a third choice – service/military men and women. The Hearts of Hope campaign will run now through Memorial Day weekend. Jack Wesley McCuin, age 88, of Jordan, Mont., formerly of Saco, Mont., passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, at the Garfield County Nursing Home in Jordan. Jack was born on Aug. 7, 1935, in Saco, to Edwin Walter "Mac" and Alma (Garrison) McCuin. He was raised on the ranch 35 miles south of Saco on Larb Creek and attended school in Saco. Pearl Fisher (Carlson/Wagner/Ochsner) Nickels passed away of natural causes on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024, in Glasgow, Mont., marking the end of a colorful life that included music, art, education, long friendships, and always livestock. In her 92 years, Pearl worked hard at whatever she set her mind to, but she never missed an opportunity to visit with friends and strangers alike. Robert "Bob" Sverre Jondahl, age 100, passed away Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024, at home near Minneapolis, Minn. There will be a private family service at a later date. Bob was born Nov. 25, 1923, in Glasgow, Mont., to Norwegian immigrants Sverre and Tomine Jondahl. In his youth he helped his parents in the Jondahl Bakery, but by high school you couldn't keep him away from the airport. Flying became his lifelong passion, earning his pilot's license from the Etchart-Markle Flying School at age 16.... Full story
