The City of Glasgow came one step closer to ending a months-long search to find and hire a criminal-focused city attorney. At their regular meeting on Monday, April 15, the council approved a conditional offer to negotiate with Anna Rose Sullivan, currently of Wolf Point, to take on the role of both civil and criminal Glasgow City attorney. The House of Representatives, in a vote of 263-158, passed an extension of the Violence Against Women Act on April 4, providing protections for survivors of domestic violence. Provisions in the Act center around the crisis surrounding missing and murdered indigenous women. The focus in Helena is turning away from committee hearings on new bills to amending, fine tuning and passing what legislation remains in volley. James "Jim" Farstad, 95, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, 2019, at Hi-Line Retirement Center, in Malta, Mont. Memorial services will be Saturday, April 20, at Malta Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. Jim was born Dec. 21, 1923, to Pedar and Julia Farstad in North Dakota. He attended school there and then spent nearly two years in the U.S. Navy where he served on a PT boat in the Pacific. While I have managed to get the downed tree branches and twigs picked up off my lawn, I haven’t yet ordered any garden seeds. I’m sure the constant winds we’re getting will have me gathering more twigs and limbs before I have to think about mowing. But the grass is greening up nicely. The Lady Scotties took on the Fergus Lady Eagles at Jeff Jurgens Field on April 9. Glasgow played a tight game through the third inning when the score was 9-8 in favor of Lewistown. The Lady Eagles pulled ahead in the final two innings with a 16-run scoring streak. While it competed for participants with a few other meets scheduled for the same day, it still drew some good competition, including a team of boys from Williston. The Glasgow Middle School track program is nearing the half-way point of its short season and is hosting its invitational meet this Thursday, April 18, at the Glasgow High School track. The Glasgow School Board met in regular session on April 10. All of the trustees were in attendance as well as school administrative staff.
