The Children’s Museum of Northeast Montana was recently awarded a $4,500 grant from the Montana Department of Commerce to update exterior signage. The Museum was one of 25 recipients to receive a portion of the $750,000 total that was awarded across the state through the Tourism Grant Program under the Office of Tourism and Business Development. TC Energy (formerly TransCanada) is putting the past year’s legal battles behind them and is moving ahead with plans to construct the Keystone XL pipeline. Former Opheim woman Elena Salinas has sued the Valley County Sheriff’s Office and ex-Undersheriff Luke Strommen in connection to allegations that he sexually assaulted her at her home in December 2017. The Bureau of Land Management filed a Notice of Intent (NOI) on Jan. 21 to prepare an environmental impact statement (EIS) with the intent of overhauling grazing regulations on public lands. The NOI filed with the federal registry established the beginning of a scoping process intended to solicit public opinion and identify issues. Shirley Mae (Prior) Nelson, 91, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont. Services will be held this summer at a family gathering in Glasgow. She was born in Poplar, Mont., on Dec. 30, 1928, to Charles and Edith Prior. Shirley graduated from Poplar High School and married James Nelson on May 27, 1947. They had three daughters. While shopping for fresh fruits and veggies last Thursday, I was greeted by a friend in the grocers. He accused me of being the cause of coming bad weather.
