One day after Attorney General Jeff Sessions rescinded the Obama era Cole Memo, directing federal prosecutors to focus resources away from cannabis related offenses that followed existing state laws, U.S. Attorney for the District of Montana Kurt Alme issued a statement indicating the impact this has on Montanans who own medical marijuana dispensaries and those who use medical marijuana. With winter upon us, the Elk's Lodge 1922 turned up the heat at their first annual chili cook-off on Jan. 6. Seven local teams of veterans and rookies came together to showcase their skills in hopes of winning the cash prize. I am writing this letter in response to the decision that was reached by the City Council. They denied Cindy [Ramsbacher] a pet rescue permit. I really don't understand this decision. We have had a cat rescue in Glasgow for some time, so why give them a permit and not Cindy? Cindy works very hard to take care of every dog she gets. Eugene "Gene" Roy Hallock, born Nov. 25, 1941, in Glasgow, Mont., passed away Wednesday, Dec, 27, 2017, at Tru Hospice in Greeley, Colo., at the age of 76. Dick Nicol passed away peacefully in his home in Clayton, Idaho, on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 5, 1931, to Bud and Pauline Nichol in Glasgow, Mont. He was raised in the surrounding area of Nashua on the family ranch with his seven brothers and sisters, until he went into the Army in 1954. Hugo Lee Hansen passed away unexpectedly at St. Peter's Hospital on New Year's Day, 2018, at the age of 69. He was the first of four children born to Hugo Walter and Mary Edna Hansen in Glasgow, Mont., on March 3, 1948. He attended St. Raphael School and graduated from Glasgow High in 1966. The family moved to Great Falls shortly after his high school graduation. Later that summer, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served one tour of duty in Vietnam.
