Glasgow and Valley County are full of giving people. The community gives in times of need. The children’s Christmas store has been an annual tradition for nearly two decades. You may have seen the lights on the east side of town near the East Side School. A Nativity scene sits on display for the second year. The scene is a traditional one that was put together by Glasgow's youth. Several church youth groups came together last year to put the scene together. A Dec. 18 bond vote count after a mail election brought a narrow win for facility improvements at Frazer High School and a larger win for Frazer Elementary School. Both bonds passing will raise nearly $1.5 million to repair, restore and replace certain facilities. Voters registered in Frazer School District 2 in Valley County mailed out their ballots from Dec. 2 to 17. There were 181 ballots sent in. Irle Elementary first-graders, directed by music teacher Christine Gilchrist, presented a musical called "The Reindeer Whisperer" during the school's annual Christmas program Dec. 19 at the Evangelical Church. Every year I hear "Merry Christmas" less and less when I really want to hear it more and more. By the time this week's paper comes out I will have aged another year, having joined the septuagenarian generation last year. For 60 or more of those years I have heard Merry Christmas said, with sincere gusto and true feeling for the season, a million times or more. Do you remember when Glasgow had a community Christmas tree during the holiday season? These lovely trees were set up on 2nd Avenue South at the 5th Street intersection for some years. These were large trees, however not so large that traffic could not flow on either side of them. I remember the lights, but do not remember that there were any other decorations on them. Dear Editor: In the midst of holiday celebrations, we want to update everyone on the Northeast Montana Veterans Memorial. We also want to thank everyone for the generous contributions toward fulfilling the vision and beginning construction at Fort Peck next summer. The U19 Ice Dawgs are on a roll. Glasgow secured its third consecutive win Sunday as they beat Watford City 1-0 at the Valley Event Center. The Ice Dawgs were once again led by the offensive tandem of Carley Wesley and MaKenzie Wesen. On Saturday the Glasgow Ice Dawgs High School team traveled to Billings for a pair of games against the Bulls. Due to a scheduling issue on their end, the 10 a.m. game was moved to 9 a.m.. The problem was that they did not let the Ice Dawgs know until 8:30 that morning. Everyone made it in the nick of time after several frenzied calls and text messages.
