Sam Brelje and Nate Doornek are Glasgow’s eighth-grade and seventh-grade coach, respectively. The Glasgow eighth graders c...

  • Grand Season Ends For GHS

    Lih-An Yang, The Courier|Nov 20, 2013

The Scotties football team's dream of bringing a state championship game back to the home field will have to wait another year. Glasgow lost to the Baker Spartans, 22-7, in the Class B semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Baker. Scotties fans, the band and cheerleaders packed the Spartans stands. In the end, the Spartans were simply a better and stronger team. The Spartans controlled both the ball and the clock for most of the game, while crippling Glasgow's offense. It was also the Spartans who... Full story

  • On To The Semifinals

    Lih-An Yang, The Courier|Nov 13, 2013

In their tenth game of the season, with a record of 8-1 coming into the state quarterfinal, the Scotties were used to cruising to easy victories, it seemed. And yet the Nov. 9, 2013 victory would become the hardest they had to fight for, facing not only the tough 2011 state champion Fairfield Eagles but also perhaps the sloppiest game Glasgow itself has played. Interceptions, fumbles, failed kicks, incomplete passes ... these anxieties punctuated the dramatic game that seemed to be highlighted b... Full story

While terrorists intend harm, immigrants want to settle down in their new home and get along just like everybody else. Chances are immigrants have done good deeds in their neighborhoods, schools and towns that won’t be recorded in national statistics. Speaking a new language is difficult for any adult; reading and writing is much easier. But since speaking is the more public way of commu...
