Dennis Lee Jansa

Dennis Lee Jansa, of Glasgow, Mont., died on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, surrounded by his family at the Billings Clinic Hospital in Billings, Mont., at the age of 79, from natural causes.

He was born in Omaha, Neb., to his parents, Louis Edward and Maxine (Todd) Jansa, on May 27, 1939. He lived at Nemont Manor in Glasgow for the past three years where he met many friends and enjoyed dining and visiting with them.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served on the Heavy Cruiser USS Albany and the Aircraft Carrier USS Roosevelt from 1956 to 1960. He was a member of the Steamfitters Local 464 in Omaha and worked building nuclear power plants in Brownville and Fort Calhoun, Neb., along the Missouri River.

He had a love for art. He honed his artistic skills under the tutelage of Tom Palmerton. He made sure all his kids and grandkids had plenty of artwork to adorn their homes and offices. He continued to paint into his retirement years, until his eyes failed him.

He was a recovering alcoholic with 31 years of sobriety, thanks to Alcoholics Anonymous and his higher power. Dennis also had a passion for walleye fishing with his sons at Fort Peck Reservoir near Glasgow and Devil's Lake in North Dakota. "Dad could always catch the BIG ONE." The family will have a reunion and fishing trip in his honor at Devil's Lake at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Dustin Lee Troup.

He is survived by one brother, David Jansa (Pamela) of Huntsville, Texas; his four children, Ken Jansa (Cheryl), of Glasgow, Anthony Jansa (Valerie), of Wellington, Colo., Shelli Potts (Scott), of Elko, Nev. and Kelli Drake (Steve), of Rock Springs, Wyo .; his former wife and friend, Joyce Jansa Corcoran, of Rock Springs; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Troup (Kristie), Kristina Gordon (Dale), Stacie Hillman Canen (Ray), Tyler Hillman (Christy), Anthony Jansa, Jr., Brittany Jansa Samsel (Dan), Joshua Herbst (RaCheal), Nikole Herbst (Kris Palmaccio), Eli Miller (Megan Ferguson) and Alexis Tornquist (Eric); and 21 great-grandchildren, Mariah Moreno, Ahrian Troup, Trinity, Dale III, and Isabella Gordon, McKenzi and Avery Troup, Derek Canen (Michelle), Kendra Canen (Phillip Luedtke), Sawyer Hillman, Danika Soper, Berkley Hillman, Madysin Herbst, Olivia Palmaccio, Justice, Kimber and Ackley Miller, and Caleb, Cadrin, Corbyn and Cambryn Tornquist.

The family received friends at Bell Mortuary, 701 2nd Avenue South in Glasgow, on Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The family requests no flowers. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association.
