GKST Swimmers Fourth in Scobey

Kaiser Continues Undefeated Streak

The Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team took a large group of 34 swimmers to Scobey July 14 and 15. They placed fourth overall in team points and relay points. Head coach Nicole Arnold is pleased with the progress her swimmers are making. "They've had a great season," she explained. "Many swimmers are hitting their stride in the pool with only one regular season meet left to go."

Leading the team with top three finishes were: Jordan Billingsley (100m backstroke-first), Raelee Dowden (200m individual medley/100m butterfly - third), Katie Kaiser (50m freestyle/100m backstroke/400m freestyle - first), Abigail Kulczyk (100m freestyle- third), Sophia Larson (50m freestyle- third, 50m breaststroke - second), Ben Miller (100m breaststroke - third, 100m freestyle/400m freestyle- second), Bergen Miller (100m breaststroke - third), Ava Reyes (100m backstroke- second), Dalton Sand (100m freestyle/ 200m freestyle- second, 100m butterfly - first), and Natosha Sand (100m butterfly - third).

The GKST Athlete of the Week voted on by the coaches goes to Bergen Miller. Arnold said Miller had a fantastic meet where he took off a total of seven-and-a-half seconds in his individual events. "Bergen has always had a great attitude towards competing," said Arnold. "This weekend, that showed, with him having a smile on his face and joking about friendly competition. Bergen is also very receptive when it comes to taking notes on improvement so it was wonderful to see him succeed this weekend. We look forward to great things heading into the last meet of the season before divisionals and state."

According to Arnold, noteworthy performances came from Zavier Urbin and Dowden who both put up personal best times in their individual events this weekend. Dalton Sand had another successful weekend with a pool record in the 100m butterfly by four-ana-a-half seconds and another pool record swim in the 200m freestyle that was beaten just seconds earlier by another competitor. Katie Kaiser swam to a pool record in the 400m freestyle and took home high point honors yet again in the senior age group. She continues to stay undefeated for the season.

The team will be heading to Lewistown Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22, which will be their last go at trying new events and refining their strokes. With the divisional and state meets on the horizon, the team is focused and ready.

The divisional meet with be held in Chinook July 28 and 29, and the state meet will be in Conrad August 4 and 5.
