Milk River Inc. Bringing Back Recycling

Milk River Inc. has told The Courier they have restarted their recycling program and have started taking corrugated cardboard.

According to Michelle Eliason, the group has not started taking aluminum, plastic or paper due to the fact that the baler is not strong enough to handle those products. She hopes in the future the program can be expanded to include these items.

“We are trying to do cans but the baler does not have enough oomph, and we are putting in a grant for a better one,” explained Eliason. She added, “We did take in quite a few cans and tried to bale them, but it didn’t work. So, currently we are not taking cans but looking forward to taking them in the future.”

Eliason said public interest and recent trips to facilities in Miles City inspired her to reignite the program. Of her trip in Miles City she said they, “Showed me around their recycling center and they are amazing. Hopefully, we can be that amazing.”

As of now, Milk River is only accepting corrugated cardboard and it can be dropped off at Milk River at 219 2nd Ave South, Monday through Friday, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
