Interpretive Center Offering Lots of Interactive Exhibits for Families

The Fort Peck Interpretive Center will be providing a number of activities for children and families this weekend, July 6 through 8. There will be a variety of displays, handouts and activities related to the various moon phases, a bat walk and owl pellets.

On Friday, attendees will be able to discover and explore the different moon phases, on Saturday, be able to participate in a Bat Walk with Heather Harris from Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks and on Sunday, discover and learn about owls. These activities, minus the Bat Walk, will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and are subject to change.

The Bat Walk will start at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday at the Downstream Campground Amphitheater. Harris will deliver a presentation on bats and their importance in the ecosystem. Then Harris will lead attendees to a Bat Walk around the Downstream Natural Trial in search of bats as they begin their nightime hunt.

The Interpretive Center will also be offering a Water Carnival on Saturday, July 14, from noon to 4 p.m. There will be a variety of various water-related activities, including electric mini-boats, boat safety, lifejacket sizing, cotton candy and popcorn. A variety of agencies will join together to offer fun and information for the whole family.

The Interpretive Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the end of September. Powerhouse tours are also available and offered daily.
