Montana Warriors on the Water Seeks Support for Coming Event

Each year Montana Warriors on the Water hosts a week-long retreat for selected veterans from across the country. The event this year begins July 22, and will run through July 28. This year’s retreat will host their largest class of veterans to date with 18 total participants, five of which hail from Montana.

The outing begins in Miles City on July 22, moving to Hell Creek on July 23 and remaining there until Friday, July 27. During that time the veterans are instructed in fishing and enjoy a sense of camaraderie and unity throughout the trip. On Friday, the group will move from Hell Creek via boat to the Fort Peck Marina, and will be treated to a long-range shoot hosted by local volunteers.

On Saturday, July 28, Montana Warriors on the Water will host a benefit concert and auction that is open to the public. Performing will be the band Southern Drawl based out of Nashville, Tenn. Items to be auctioned include firearms and a youth hunt in Big Timber.

Montana Warriors on the Water is an all -volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of sportsmen and women, and veterans of the United States military, partnered with local businesses, communities and organizations to provide outdoor recreation therapy and opportunities to veterans at no cost to them.

According to literature put out by the group, their intent is to, “honor our veterans by giving back, it is our goal to provide an environment for our veterans to relax and be able to meet other veterans from across the country who may be combat wounded or suffering from issues associated with psychological effects of war.”

According to David Bradley of Glasgow, who sits on the advisory board, the event has been greatly supported by local people and businesses and that any support from the community is always welcome.

To find out ways you can help the group accomplish their mission of supporting veterans you can contact Bradley at 263-2133 or visit montanawarriorsonthewater.com. Bradley stressed that 100 percent of every donation goes to helping veterans and putting on these events in honor and support of service members and veterans.
