Slam the Dam Takes on Another Year

The Fort Peck Senior Citizens are sponsoring the fun walk/run across the face of Fort Peck Dam on March 17, 2018. It is called “SLAM THE DAM 4: Run with the Wind”. This is a non-competitive walk/run, and no times will be kept. On the morning of March 17, the committee members will decide which direction the walk/run will go based entirely on the direction the wind is blowing that day.

That means hopefully, the wind will be at your back, if it is blowing at all. Watch for signs as you arrive or listen to the radio to see from which side of the dam the walk/run will begin. Facilities will be available at the beginning, midway, and end of the races. Drivers are available if you only want to do part of the walk/run. The distance is approximately four miles. You will be shuttled back to your car when you complete the walk/run.

Every participant receives a finisher’s souvenir. Water and fruit will also be provided. The event is for all ages. Bikes or dogs are not welcome. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. the morning of March 17, no pre-registration is required. If you would like to pre-register, you can do so at one of the Ft. Peck Credit Union locations either in Fort Peck or Glasgow or the Ft. Peck Town Office, beginning March 1.

Students under the age of 18 must have a parent sign the registration form. The fun starts at 10 a.m. Proceeds will benefit Senior Citizens’ projects in the local community. Supplemental funding is being provided by Thrivent Financial.
