Alcohol Compliance Checks, Highway Crash

Members of the law enforcement community in Glasgow attended a suicide prevention training course on Jan. 29. Valley County Undersheriff (and current candidate for sheriff) Luke Strommen was among the attendees.

According to Sheriff Vernon Buerkle, alcohol compliance checks are planned at area businesses in coming weeks and months. Sheriff Buerkle stressed that the checks are designed to increase compliance restricting sales of alcohol to minors. If you operate a point of sale location in Valley County, this means you. Despite a public notice on the subject, a number of area businesses were cited for violations during last year’s checks. VCSO and the Glasgow Police Department are cooperating with the Montana Highway Patrol to conduct checks in the area.

A rollover crash involving a single vehicle was reported north of Glasgow on Highway 24 on Jan. 29, around 8 p.m. There were no fatalities, but alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident.
