Glasgow Youths Make Us Proud

Something positive happened in our community on Friday, Oct. 13. The Glasgow Middle School Student Council took it upon themselves to make and sell hearts. Plain red hearts, nothing special, right? Wrong! Those hearts were sold to raise money for Jim Belcher’s widow, Sheryl.

Tragically, Jim was killed in a bus accident Sept. 19, doing what he loved, driving kids to their activities.

They didn’t have to do this. They did it because they are good kids. They proved it when they presented the hearts and check to Mrs. Belcher, in a unique and heartwarming assembly. They wanted Sheryl to know they cared.

Mrs. Belcher, upon leaving the campus, was overheard saying to her sister, “Did you see how many hugs I got?”

Our hats are off to the Middle School youth. You should be proud of yourselves; I know we are.
