Nation Revokes Emmy Jokes

On Sept. 17, America watched the Hollywood elite pat themselves on the back for their brave, selfless and virtuous work being celebrated at the 69th annual Emmys broadcast. Let me rephrase, no one watched the 69th Emmys. It was the lowest-rated broadcast in Emmy’s history. Spearheaded by the talented Stephen Colbert, lost in the political fog of war, he preferred to compare Trump supporters to Nazis and push skewed political agenda rather than host a genuinely comedic show for all.

Recently, conservatives feel like second-class citizens watching these type of glamourous award shows. We are lectured and spoken down to with no balance or counteract to prove it is all in good fun. The Hollywood top-shelf, much like the media and Ivy League professors, continue to live in a bubble. For their own doom, a bubble that hopefully doesn’t pop.

The joke is on them. They’ve lost the culture war but they haven’t been informed. No one tuned into the Emmys and no one cares. It strengthens the middle-America, working class average Joes and plain Janes to hear the baseless attacks of progressives. In the opening segment, they wheeled Sean Spicer out to mock his time as Trump’s press secretary. Sean Spicer rode out on a movable podium mocking the Saturday Night Live’s popularly skit portrayed by Melissa McCarthy. He mimicked his highly criticized pronouncement that Trump’s inauguration crowd was the largest recorded ever by saying that the Emmys’ broadcast would be the most viewed ever. The crowd cheered him, though weeks before he was a dishonest, low-character, white supremacist and bumbling idiot of the Trump administration.

The empty accusations don’t work anymore. Any weapon used against Trump and conservatives does not seem to prosper. Sean Spicer stole the show and is now loved, exposing the hypocrisy of the left and that by switching teams you are suddenly a great person. Trump’s right hand man is now another meme. Which to the left’s surprise, does not harm the right at all. Much like the term “fake news” was created by the left, it has now been reappropriated by the right and is a bludgeoning weapon against the mainstream media everyday.

In desperation, progressive ignorance has reached beyond the Hollywood elite and is spreading to once neutral grounds. CNN is losing ratings. The now politicized ESPN and NFL are losing ratings. You can’t just watch a ball game these days without being told it’s wrong that you think Kaepernick shouldn’t have a place in the NFL or without having a discussion about a player’s religious or sexual preferences. All guns are pointed at Trump but shooting blanks. They have become political weapons to no effect and are sinking these great mediums.

It did not useed to be this way. Award shows used to be hosted by greats such as Bob Hope or Steve Martin. They were to celebrate the arts, not a frontline for a political warzone. The occasional political outburst had but been overlooked amidst a love for the craft mixed with joyful humor and big musical numbers. They’ve chosen a war lacking sound reason to justify it and it is killing a beautiful culture and its audience. The vast majority of Trump voters are not racist, sexist, homophobic monsters. Even still, it is doubtful logic or even this ratings disaster will shake Hollywood of their perseverance to vehemently criticize conservatives, but one thing it will do is ensure Trump’s reelection. Hopefully at next year’s Emmys the Democratic Party’s wits will be honored during the in memoriam section.
