Law Enforcement Brief: Crash Fatality, Computer Scammers, Nix

On July 6, law enforcement responded to a two vehicle accident outside of Glasgow that resulted in a fatality. Valley County Sheriffs discovered a head-on collision near mile marker 546, roughly three miles east of Glasgow. Emergency medical services also responded to the scene and both occupants were transported to Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital. Fatally wounded during the accident was 59- year-old Valley County resident Keith Wynegar. Montana Highway Patrol and the Valley County Sheriff’s Office are currently conducting an investigation into the accident.

VCSO would also like to warn of potential scammers that are posing as well known computer brands. The scammers are posting messages saying that your computer has been infected and urging you to call a number they provide. In the most recent case, they gained access to the victim’s computer and took $200 with the intention of taking more. If you receive this message, do not call the number they provide you with. Also, do not give them any money or personal information. If they did gain access to your computer, contact a computer technician or tech support and have them assist you with regaining control of your computer.

Karla Nix had a change of plea hearing on June 20. She now faces a new sentencing hearing for one count of exploitation of an older person (felony) on July 31, at 1 p.m., at the Valley County Courthouse.
