Reds Split Games Against Blues

Cremer Hits Solo Home Run

The Glasgow Reds faced the Scobey Blues in two games last week. The Reds hosted the Blues in the first game at Bill Connors Field in Glasgow on June 27, and improved their overall record to 9-16 with an 11-1 win.

Glasgow 11, Scobey 1

Glasgow claimed the lead early and maintained the upper-hand throughout the game. Scobey denied a shut-out, however, with a run in the top of the sixth inning.

Following a non-productive first at-bat for the Blues, the Reds took their turn at the plate and lit up the scoreboard with an RBI single by Brett Glaser.

On the mound for the Reds, Kristian Price faced just three batters in the top of the second inning, and struck out all three.

Glasgow had a productive turn at the plate in the second half of the inning, thanks to a three-run double by Cade Myrick.

Following a scoreless third inning, the Reds executed a great double play in the top of the fourth to shut down the Blues in their turn at bat. To start things off for Glasgow at the plate, John Cremer hit a bomb out of the park when he connected with the first pitch he faced at the plate. The solo home run extended the Reds' lead to 5-0.

Glasgow added a run to the score when Myrick scored on a passed ball before Scobey shut down the inning.

Scobey mustered enough offense to get two runners on base in the top of the fifth, but with one out already on the board, Glasgow executed their second double play of the contest to squash the scoring opportunity.

After a single by Darrin Wersal in the bottom of the inning, an error and a passed ball allowed him to score. When Scobey recorded the final out of the inning, Glasgow was on top 7-0.

Although the Blues were able to score in the sixth inning, it was another productive inning for the Reds, who brought in three more runs.

Scobey was battling against two outs on the board when a walk and a pair of errors allowed them to score for the first time in the contest. Price answered by striking out the final batter. The Reds' scoring run was driven by a double from Wersal that scored Myrick and Kevin McDonald, and a single RBI by Korbin Cole that brought in Wersal.

The top of the seventh inning would turn out to be the Blues' last opportunity to catch up to the Reds. It was a disappointing showing for them as they put just one runner on base with a walk before Glasgow shut them down. In their turn at the plate, the Reds were gifted their final run after a pair of walks and both Glaser and McDonald being hit by a pitch. The series allowed Noah Lipzsyc to score, ending the game with a ten-run rule in the seventh inning.

The Reds collected ten hits in the game with Wersal, Cremer and Myrick leading the way with two hits each.

Price earned the win on the mound, pitching six of the seven innings. He surrendered one run, four hits, and struck out five. McDonald provided relief in the final inning and recorded three strikeouts.

Glasgow traveled north to Scobey for their second match-up against the Blues, and the Blues capitalized on the home field advantage to snag a win against the Reds 13-3.

Scobey 13, Glasgow 3

The Reds took an early lead against the Blues with runs in the first, third, and fourth innings, thanks to a single RBI from Wersal, an error that brought in Myrick, and Alex Fransen scoring on a ground out by Bryce Legare.

The Blues brought in an answering run in the bottom of the fourth before the Reds shut the inning down.

The fifth inning was huge for Scobey as they denied Glasgow any runs in their turn at bat, and they scored 11 runs in a series of walks and errors.

The Reds failed to bring in any runs in the top of the sixth inning, and in their turn at the plate, the Blues scored just one more run to earn the ten-run mercy rule win.

Fransen took the loss on the mound for the Reds. He went four and a third innings, allowing five runs, two hits, and striking out eight. McDonald, Myrick and Nik Herman also saw some time on the mound, with Herman finishing the game for the Reds.

Legare and Wersal each drove in one run to lead the Reds.
