Second-place Team ADC Foundation played six games on their way to the championship game against Yank-Deez in the John Hahn Memorial Softball Tournament. John Hahn Field in Fort Peck was the setting for the 50th annual softball tournament by the same name. Campers and tents of all shapes and sizes were set up in home-run territory of the field, while lawn chairs filled with spectators and coolers filled with beverages were scattered along the fence line.
The tournament, with a full field of 12 teams, kicked off on June 30, with the first of 22 games, and came to an end on July 2, with Yank-Deez out of Sidney and Billings taking home the top prize of $1000 cash.
Yank-Deez also produced both the offensive MVP of the tournament (Josh Leprowse, Butte) and the defensive MVP (Travis Browne, Billings).
Glasgow's own ADC Foundation took on Yank-Deez in the championship game on Sunday afternoon, but came up short of the title by two runs. The final score was 16-14 in favor of Yank-Deez.
Another local team, Irving Law, was defeated by ADC in the consolation finals to take home third place. Finishing fourth was Lucky's Casino/Fort Peck Marina of Billings.
The home run derby champion was Lance Ankeny of Auto Magic out of Billings.
