Art Square Silent Auction Returns to Glasgow

Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery's second annual ArtSquare Auction is back! Twenty-six pieces of artwork can be seen in store windows all over town, including Soma-dis Deli and The Loaded Toad. These 6"x6" canvases can be bid on at a minimum of $25 at Wheatgrass between 10-5 until Friday, May 12, 10-2 on Saturday and at the ArtSquare Auction event. Funds raised will benefit Luke's 100, a fundraising organization for Valley View Home, as well as Wheatgrass Arts and Gallery.

Local art can only survive with community support. The auction event will be from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at Wheatgrass, which shares conjoining spaces with The Loaded Toad and Sean Heavey's Gallery. Everyone is invited to celebrate local art with live music by Dick Markle and Bob Strand, art demonstrations by Leith DeWeese, quick portraits by Tess Fahlgren, food and Busted Knuckle brews.

Artwork available for auction and on display throughout town are by local artists including Nick Dirkes, Dyan Carlson, Betty Stone, Bridget Stiverson, Janet Markle, Toni LaGree, Barb Hansen, Carol Oster and Jason Myers. Regional artists also contributed to the canvases include Sonja Johnson, Kristine Bowman, Leith DeWeese, Darlene Durell, Katie Busch, Anna Rose Sullivan, Jamie Hanson and Megan Haddix.

Artists from outside of the area contributed include Sydney Faul, Melissa Unger,Tess Fahlgren, Max Mahn, Jessica Solem Eickert and Lorene Hintz. Other art on display is jewelry by Bozeman artist Sarahjess Hurt and a screenprint by Missoula artist Max Mahn, or Twinhome Prints. National artists have also contributed to the cause including Marcia McEachron and Mike Leonard.
