Valley County Health Department Receives Award

The Valley County Health Department received the Healthy People 2020 award for meeting the national goal of 80 percent coverage of immunizations in Valley County. This is a great accomplishment as Montana immunization rates are 68.1 percent and the national immunization rates are 72.2 percent.

Assessment, Feedback, Incentives and Exchanges (AFIX) is a continuous quality improvement process designed specifically for immunizations. AFIX is part of the clinic reviews conducted by the Montana Department of Health and Human Services (DPHHS) Immunization Program staff.

In a letter congratulating the Valley County Health Department, State Medical Officer Greg Holzman, MD, MPH, applauded the clinic's work towards achieving this coverage rate. The AFIX Certificate of Achievement- Healthy People 2020 was presented by the Immunization Program to the Valley County Health Department at a recent Immunization Regional Workshop.

The Valley County Health Department efforts are working towards achieving the goal of ensuring Montana's children are immunized by two years of age against vaccine-preventable diseases.
