Remember Recycling

I have written before about recycling and I admit I am at it again.  We have all read the funny little articles about the “Green Thing” and nod our head in agreement. Yes, those of us of my generation and previous generations recycled so many things without giving it a thought. It was an everyday thing. Coffee cans were saved and many times used in the shop by the men to organize their nuts and bolts, etc., clothing was recycled by making over for the children, and so on and on.

My husband and I took a few days off a couple of weeks ago to attend an event that utilized port-a-potties. Of course they are not a favorite of anyone of us but sometimes a necessity.  This particular company had a neat little sign on the inside of the door.  Now I have used an outhouse a couple of years in my life but never, in this day and age of recycling did I consider the use of an outhouse as recycling.

Okay, my use of the term recycling is not correct but- Did you know that we could save 125 million gals of water a day by just using an outhouse or port-a-potty!  At least that is what the above referenced little sign on the door told me.  I am willing to take it for fact, but not willing to change my way of life.  Besides they don’t pack peaches in papers anymore so no tissue for the outside toilet.  The last  is an inside joke, but some of you  may relate.  Enjoy the good life!
