Scotties Split Malta, Wolf Point Contests

The Scotties finished their regular season with two away games held Feb. 9 and Feb. 10. With a loss against the Malta Mustangs and a win over the Wolf Point Wolves, the Scottie boys enter the District 2B tournament as the number two seed.

Malta 52, Glasgow 46

Glasgow gave Malta a run for their money in the 52-46 loss against the Mustangs. The Mustangs won the first quarter, outscoring the Scotties 20-11. However, with consistent quarter-by-quarter scoring for the remainder of the game, the Scotties prevented Malta from becoming too confident.

The Scotties amped up their defense in the second half of the game, but were unable to maintain the intensity to the end. As the Mustangs penetrated to the basket with almost every possession, they pulled into the lead and clinched the win.

Cade Myrick led the Scotties in scoring as he reached double digits with 17 points, and had the most steals for the contest with three.

It truly was a team effort, with every Scottie having time on the floor which contributed to the score.

Bryce Legare and Luke Breigenzer grabbed the most rebounds in the contest, as they both finished with four. At the freethrow line, Glasgow was seven of eight or 87.5 percent.

Glasgow 55, Wolf Point 38

The Scotties evened things up with Wolf Point when they avenged an earlier-season loss, defeating the Wolves 55-38 in their final regular season game.

In another consistent quarter-by-quarter team effort, the Scotties led for the entire contest, with Wolf Point falling behind significantly in the third quarter.

The Wolves could not penetrate the Scottie defense and each player was held to single digits in scoring.

Glasgow put up an impressive 92 percent at the charity stripe completing 12 of 13 attempts. In comparison, the Wolves finished only 62.5 percent of their shots at the line.

Ross led the way for the Scotties, sinking 20 points, followed by Myrick with 12. Coming off the bench to score were Legare and Tim Wageman.

Statistically, the Scotties shared the task of rebounding, stealing and assisting. By the end of the game, Glasgow had 27 rebounds, 12 steals and 16 assists.
