Glasgow Road Department Executes Snow Removal Plan

Karl Krause, head of the Glasgow Road Department, told the Courier that they are working to clear the roads of snow. Krause said the city uses their snow removal plan in order to prioritize roads for removal. "We start with priority roads, then we do hills, and then we take on any trouble spots that really need attention."

Since receiving over 10 inches of snow two weeks ago, the removal crews have been working at clearing the snow packs in Glasgow. "We have removed dozens of truck loads," said Krause adding that with three trucks each averages about 15 loads a day. "It takes seven to ten seconds for the blower to fill the truck," explained Krause.

Krause added that, "When we sand, the snow gets softer which makes the roads more rough, so we try to just let it pack down in certain places." He also told the Courier that the snow removal plan is available at the City office, and that if you would like to know when and where crews will be removing snow you can go to http://www.cityofglasgow.com.
