Comfort Pups Program is a Community Effort

Comfort Pups Program was an idea that came to Assistant Chief Brien Gault after responding to a multiple vehicle accident with children involved. Gault recognized the benefit that supportive materials, like a stuffed animal, can have to comfort and help young children through a traumatic experience.

Knowing that other law enforcement entities in the state had started stuffed animal programs to help children, Gault decided to pitch the idea to his fellow officers in the department to try to get them involved as well. Thus, was the beginning of the Comfort Pup Program. The Comfort Pups are a custom design showing pride for Glasgow. The stuffed Scottish Terriers wear a GPD patch and a plaid collar with a GPD Keychain attached to it.

The Comfort Pup program is being developed as a collaborative community effort with partial funding donated by the local Soroptimist International group and with support from the sewing ladies of the First Lutheran Church. Robyn Albus and Lindsey Peterson of Robyn's Nest apply the finishing touches to the Scottie Dogs. The state of Montana, through preventive grant funding dollars, has also acknowledged and supported the efficacy of the Comfort Pup Program.
