Tollefson Creates Book Exchange in Hinsdale

Jim Tollefson took his hobby of working with wood and shared it with the community of Hinsdale recently by constructing a book exchange in Legion Park. The idea of a book exchange came to Tollefson while thumbing through a wood working magazine.

Tollefson used recycled materials and scrap lumber from other projects, including roofing tin from the McColly family.

The exchange, which was placed on the northern side of Hinsdale's Sweet Memories, joins an estimated 32,000 other book exchanges across America. The outdoor miniature library is open to the public to take and leave books at their leisure. Tollefson hopes that his project will inspire people to read. He joins efforts from across the county to increase literacy, including Boxcar Road Books, which currently offers used and donated titles in Opheim and Frazer.
