New Coaches to Join Scottie Football

Head Scottie football coach Greg Liebelt’s staff will have a noticeably different look for the 2016 season than in recent years with the replacement of three staff members from the 2015 season. New coaches Greg Franklin, Josh McCrossin and Ryan Hartwell (pending May board approval) will lend their expertise and energy to returning assistant and defensive coordinator Trint Gamas and volunteer Levi Sugg. Two veteran assistants, Bryan Krumwiede and Ed Sugg, have stepped down, in addition to one-year coach Tom Daniels, who moved away after the 2015 season.

Franklin currently works at Edward Jones Financial in Glasgow and played high school football in Bozeman and one season with the Montana State Bobcats. McCrossin is completing his senior year in education at Carroll College and will be teaching at Hinsdale High School next fall. McCrossin played football in Darby, Mont. and has been helping with coaching duties for the past two years at Carroll College with the Saints football team. McCrossin has coached the defensive line, outside linebackers and played a major role with the Scout offense for the Saints. Hartwell currently lives in Glasgow and has been working in the Bakken oil field for Redman, Inc. and locally with East Fork Construction. Hartwell played high school football in Declo, Idaho. He played one year of college football at Idaho State then transferred to MSU Northern in Havre and played two more seasons. Hartwell also coached in the Havre middle school program for five years.

Coach Liebelt is grateful for the time and commitment to Scottie football provided by veteran assistants Krumwiede and Sugg, and is very excited to have these three new assistants join the program. Coach Liebelt said, “Do not be surprised to still see Bryan Krumwiede and Ed Sugg as volunteer coaches in some capacity this upcoming season.”

The Scottie football team will open their season on the road Saturday, Aug. 27 in Colstrip followed by an away game at Class A Glendive before hosting Baker for their first home game Sept. 9 at Scottie Field.
