Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Idell R. Nicol

Idell R. (Kappes) Nicol, 81, of Nashua, Mont., passed away Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, at Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow, Mont.

She was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Wolf Point, Mont., to Martin and Lydia (Schaffer) Kappes. She completed her education in Nashua.

She married Pete Nicol on July 17, 1954. Together they had three children, whom they raised on the family farm southeast of Nashua.

She worked hard all her life, whether it was on the farm or outside of the home helping make ends meet. She will be remembered for her large gardens which yielded an over abundance of vegetables to be shared with family and friends, as well as her love of animals. She lovingly spoiled her pets and willingly fed any stray that came along.

We will all miss the wonderful treats she lovingly made for Christmas Eve dinner, which she started baking after Thanksgiving. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed canning, crocheting and word search puzzels.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold.

Survivors include her husband, Pete Nicol, of the family home; three children, Deborah (JR Cusker) of Nashua, Rusty Nicol and his wife, Thelma, of Kalispell, and Carrie Nicol of Glasgow; grandchildren, Danielle (Casey Jones) Cusker of Chinook, Earl Cusker and his wife, Mikki, of Laurel, Kaitlin (Steve Chappell) Cusker of Glasgow; a great-grandson, Gage Cusker, of Cherry Point, N.C.; and numerous pets she cared for and worried about whether they were hers or not.

Bell Mortuary has assisted the family with private services and burial. Idell's family requests that in lieu of cards and flowers that donations be made in her memory to the Northeast Montana Pet Rescue.
