Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Helen Lorraine Inabnit

Heaven gained a beautiful angel Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, when Helen Lorraine (Greenwood) Inabnit (58) passed away in Billings, Mont.

She was born on Feb. 20, 1957, in Glasgow, Mont., to George and Edith Greenwood of Glentana. She was the youngest of six children. Her sister was her best friend and her brothers were her protectors, especially her brother, Ken.

She met the love of her life, Gordon, and they married on June 15, 1984. They spent many years enjoying the wilderness of Montana, hunting, fishing, camping at the river and playing cribbage late into the night. They took many vacations with her brother, Jim, and her "adopted" sister, Lila.

They were blessed with two sons, Cody and Mike, and her boys were the light of her life. She was so proud of both her sons, and they loved her more than anything. They loved her so much they both joined NorthWestern Energy, the company their mother worked for, so they could be close to her.

She had a stepdaughter, Celina, who she treated as if she was her own. Her family was the most important thing to her in her life, and her work was a close second. She began her career at NorthWestern Energy as a meter reader and worked her way up to senior drafter design.

She gained a very large and very close work family from her 37 years at NorthWestern Energy, and she would often talk about how she watched a lot of her coworkers and their families grow up over the years.

She was a grandmother to four beautiful children, Trinity, Carter, Emily and Viola. Spending time with her family and her extended family brought her the greatest amount of joy in her life. She loved so deeply that you could feel her love when you were with her, and when she hugged you she would hum she was so happy. She was a mother to many of her sons' closest friends who often called her "Mama Helen."

She was a beautiful daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend to many, and she will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; one brother, John; two nephews, Rodney and Traton; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon; one remaining uncle, Daryl Miller, whom she loved dearly; two sons, Cody Inabnit and his wife, Patricia, and Michael Inabnit and his wife, Rhiannon; one stepdaughter, Celina Cline; four siblings, Ken Greenwood and his wife, Darlene, Linda Sexton and her husband, George, Ed Greenwood and his wife, Hazel, and Jim Greenwood and his wife, Lila; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at the First Lutheran Church in Havre, officiated by Pastor Tanner Howard, followed by a reception in the church basement.

Honorary pallbearers were Uncle Daryl Miller, Tyler Crossley, all her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
