Tough Competition in Billings for Speech and Drama

Judges Needed for Home Meet in January

The Glasgow Speech and Drama team attended the challenging Billings Central Catholic High School Invitational Speech, Drama and Debate Tournament this past weekend. According to Coach Mathew Bacon, the group met with some of the toughest competition in the eastern half of Montana, with nearly 400 kids vying for victory .

In a press release, Bacon states that what might have been a discouraging weekend was turned around by, "a series of inspired performances by senior mime Mariah Holter in her journey to a second place finish." Bacon also mentioned some "steadily improving performances" from sophomores Reece Hunsley (dramatic oral interpretation) and Jrake Gutow (humorous oral interpretation). He adds: "The rest of the team struggled against the fierce competition but is refocused and determined to get back to work in preparation for our upcoming meet in Circle and our home meet after Christmas."

Supporters of the program are encouraged to inquire about volunteering as judges for the next home meet in Glasgow on Saturday Jan. 9th. Bacon explains, "This provides a unique opportunity to watch some of the most talented high school students from around our area perform in competition."
