Glasgow Residents Take Prizes in Montana State Lottery

Glasgow has proven hot recently in the lottery department, and Ballard Williams is basking in the heat. He won the $75,000 grand prize with a Frogger Scratch ticket purchased from the Agland Co-op at 300 U.S. Highway 2 in Wolf Point on Friday, Oct. 16.

Ballard moved up from Texas about five years ago, and he loves it in Glasgow. But when he called his girlfriend in Texas and told her he'd won the grand prize, she asked if he was kidding. Ballard said, "It took a little convincing, but she knows I won it now." But he didn't call her right away, because "I just wasn't sure it was real for a little while."

Ballard believes it's real now, and he has some plans for his winnings. He has his eye on some investments, and he's going to try his hand in that area. But, "Not before we have a little party tonight and tomorrow."

Lady Luck was also smiling for Dawn Nelson when she made her husband, Scott, go to the Beach Boys concert in Billings. Dawn and Scott won a $9,000 prize with a Hot Lotto with Sizzler ticket purchase at the Holiday #286 at 785 South 20 Street West in Billings.

It took a little communication to get the winning news to Dawn. Scott and their son, Coy, were checking the numbers on the computer, and it looked like a winner. Coy said he got really excited, and went and told his Mom. Coy said Dad was pretty calm, "but he kept on walking back to the computer every two minutes to make sure the numbers matched." So Coy told Mom, and then the grandparents were called and informed of the good news.

The Nelsons don't have any firm plans for their winnings, but they're getting used to the idea of having them. Dawn said they were going "to head back to Glasgow, but we might stop in Havre or Great Falls on the way home, and see what happens."
