Glasgow Falls Short of Podium at Crowded Miles City Meet

The Running Scotties strode to comfortable, if disappointing, 3rd and 4th-place finishes in Oct. 10's Miles City Invitational.

Walker Allen's 17:26 in the boys' varsity race, good for 14th overall, led Glasgow's charge. Behind him came Ellis McKean (18:06, 21st), Gabe Hillock (19:03, 34th), Cade Myrick (19:04, 35th), and Braden Meland (19:09, 36th). The team's 140-point total cast an obese shadow over top three Harlem, Glendive, and Laurel's respective 28, 57, and 78 - though it provided a 66-point cushion between it and 5th-place Sidney.

In the girls' varsity meet, Emily (15th overall) and Julia Kolstad (16th) again assumed position at the peak of the Scotties' finishers, turning in identical 21:40 times. Alex Simensen crossed the line 17 seconds later in 17th; Morgan Guttenberg (22:32; 22nd) and Katie Kaiser (23:00; 30th) rounded out the five scorers. Their 100-point total comfortably dispatched 4th-place Miles City's 123.

In the JV boys' race, Chase Hughes and Ethan Jamba posted top-10 finishes. In the girls', Mary Fewer streamlined to 2nd.

This weekend, the team travels to Plentywood for the final tune-up prior to states.

"Their course is a good warm up," said coach Rod Karst. "It's challenging, but not so difficult we can't look at cutting time. We need to work on hitting our splits."
