Fair Schedule Set, Vendors Sought

The 2015 Northeast Montana Fair & Rodeo is coming up fast.

This year's schedule features the Northern Prairie Auto Ram Rodeo Series, which includes the PRCA Rodeo/Wild Horse Race (August 2 at 6 p.m.), the Calf Scramble Calcutta, and the Ladies Calf Scramble.

Other entertainments include country singer Cale Moon, the Prairie Pals petting zoo, Dr. Susan Rosen (aka the Mistress of Mesmerism), entertainer Freddy Prez, Steve's Fun Balloons, music from Ringling 5, and the Funtime Carnival.

Themed evenings include the "tough enough to wear pink" night at 6 p.m. on August 2, and "military night" at 6 p.m. on August 3.

There will be a Kids Rodeo on Saturday, August 1, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Valley Event Center, as well as the Old Mil Ranch Rodeo the same day beginning with a calcutta at 4 p.m.

The Dare to Wear Pink Demolition Derby is slated for Tuesday, August 4, with a calcutta at 6 p.m. followed by the derby at 7 p.m.

4-H activities include the Ardice Stellflug Ranch Horse Memorial at 8:30 a.m. on July 25, the 4-H horse show on July 26, also at 8:30 a.m. Fairgoers can check out 4-H youth shows all day on August 3. The 4-H livestock sale is August 4.

The Fair Commission will also be hosting an open house/garage sale July 18 from 4-7:30 p.m. in order to allow exhibitors a chance to learn the latest rules and regulations and lay eyes on the physical locations where they'll be showing.

After speaking with fair organizers, it seems that there are a considerable number of slots available for vendors interested in sharing their foodstuffs, goods and services, etc. with the public. The price is right ($45-$90 for indoor spots and $150 for outdoor locations) and the opportunity to get yourself and/or your business or organization in front of the public is difficult to beat. To sign up, contact the fair office at 228-9843. The deadline is July 31.
