Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Classic Cars "Show and Shine" Downtown

Mustangs, Falcons and T-Birds, Oh My!

The Elks Club and Lodge 1922 was the site for this year's Flathead Cruisers Father's Day car show. 2nd Ave S. was blocked off and 53 classic and new cars lined both sides of the street in front of the Elks.

While the show had previously been held in the Dairy Queen parking lot, the Elks proved itself to be an attractive location.

Dick Cotton said the venue change was an improvement as it got the show away from the highway traffic, and the new Mexican restaurant offered families a close place to dine. Coffee, water and donuts were also served.

The Show and Shine has no judges or prizes. It is rather an opportunity for car owners and enthusiasts to share their passion. As Doris Leader said, "Everyone was a winner."

Car enthusiasts had the pick of the lot, viewing Chevrolets, GMCs, Fords, Buicks, Dodges, and more. Cars as old as a 1929 Ford and as new as a 2014 Mustang were on display. The show even included a 2015 Polaris Slingshot.

While most of the participants were locals, a few came from as far as Rockglen and Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. When asked if he had any favorite cars, Cotton had high praise for Charlie St Clair's vehicles. He described St Clair's '44 Street Rod Coupe as "really nice" and his '55 Chevy Hardtop as "knock-out gorgeous."

The car show saw nearly continuous foot traffic, with organizers and participants commenting that it was a high turnout and a good show.

Leader described it as, "A steady stream of viewers on a very beautiful day."
