Gene Alan Morehouse

Gene Alan Morehouse, 81, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at the Miles City Veterans' Nursing Home in Miles City, Mont.

No funeral services are pending. Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

He was born on May 2, 1933, in Hinsdale, Mont., the son of W.D. and Laimi Morehouse. He was raised in Hinsdale, and he graduated from Hinsdale High School and worked for Markle's and for H. Earl Clack in Havre. He opened D & G Sports in Glasgow with his brother, Dale Morehouse, and later sold out to him and joined the Army. He served in Korea and separated from the Army in 1967.

He married Carol Whitehorn in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1967. She died in March of 1998. They had one child, a daughter, Tina, born in 1968. She is married to Don Ellifrits and they live in Wichita, Kan.

After separating from the Army, he purchased a night club in Woodland Park, Colo. He sold the club in 1976 and moved to Missouri. He was active with the VFW, Elks, Moose, and Eagles for many years. He retired in 1976 and returned to Glasgow in 2005.

Survivors include daughter Tina Ellifrits, of Clearwater, Kan.; sisters Donna Daniels of Boise, Idaho and Marlene Able of Helena; brother Gary Morehouse, of Thompson Falls, Mont.; and many nieces and nephews.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
