Glasgow's Light Show Still On Display

A favorite tradition for some is to drive around and look at all the lights on display around the Christmas season. Several houses were completely decked out for the holidays, but one home got some notice from their light show.

Out on Heather Pl. a sign is displayed to switch your radio station for the light display. The lights flashed on and off in coordination with four songs this year. Navarr Vaira was the engineer of the display. He explained that this was the first year he set up everything. He spent an entire day with his dad putting up the lights Thanksgiving weekend.

Vaira explained that he started planning the project about a year ago, in January. He said that he had to buy software and a few controllers to get the set up ready. It took six to eight hours to create one minute of the music. His display had 28 different strands of lights hooked up.

"I've always seen the Youtube videos and I wanted to set one up of my own," Vaira said.

While he's currently not living in Glasgow, he decided his parents house would be a good place. He's a structural engineer in Missoula, but he said that some nights and weekends he would head out to his garage and work on the project. He said that he's always been good with computers.

He hopes to add to it and continue on with it next year. The lights turn on from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. each day and will be up until right around the New Year. There's still time to check them out before they come down.
