She was born in Poplar, Mont., on May 9, 1962, to Ray and Susan Cheek. She grew up in Brockton and graduated from Brockton High School in 1981. She was active in basketball and cheerleading. She was very friendly and outgoing and helped anyone that came to her for help. She loved her grandchildren and helped raise the first one, Charlie Johnnie Willa Yellow Hammer. At the time of her death, she was working for Foster Home Licensing. She loved to gamble, always going places where there were machines. She loved to tease and made people laugh. We will all miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by four aunts: Gladys Lewis, Rebecca Clark ( a very special aunt whom she loved like a mother), Faye Bird and Wilma Melbourne; Uncle Calvin Melbourne; two nephews, Bronson Charboneau and Thomas Jerome; and a niece, Johnnie McClammy.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Eriol Yellow Hammer. From this union they had three children: Misty Rose Yellow Hammer, Traci Dawn Yellow Hammer and Myron James Yellow Hammer; four grandchildren: Charlie Yellow Hammer, Ryley Russell Jr., and Zaccara Eder; her parents; two sisters: Charlene Cheek and Linda Melbourne; a brother, Clifton Cheek; a brother-in-law, Brad Yellow Hammer and his wife, Becky Bird, and Ronald Yellow Hammer and his wife, Sandra; special cousins: Joyce Parker, Theresa Sun Rhodes, Bonnie Gundlach, John and Gwen Clark, Doris Walking Eagle, and Connie Bird; special nieces: Mandy, Reisti, Jewell, Yolanda and Stacy; special nephews: Eric Sherman, Andrew Sherman, John, James, Edmund, Tolly, Jason, Traggles, Michael, John, and many others that she loved dearly. Donna had many special cousins and nieces, too many to mention whom she cared about very much.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
