Mitchel Bengochea

Mitchel Bengochea, 78, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, while working on his farm north of Nashua, Mont.

He was born on Dec. 16, 1935, in Glasgow, the son of Antonio and Concepcion (Burcavcae) Bengochea. He attended schools in Tampico, the Grain community and Nashua High School.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, serving in Korea. After returning home, he attended Montana State University in Bozeman and then worked at the Glasgow Air Force Base while starting his career in agriculture raising sheep, hereford cattle and wheat.

On April 28, 1962, he married Marlene Brennan in Hingham, Mont. They raised their family of three children, Denise, Mark and Jon. He enjoyed being a pilot and working on aircraft for people. His life was farming and agriculture and he was an accomplished mechanic and fabricator. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Queen of Angels Catholic Church, American Legion, VFW, and Cattleman's Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Bengochea, of Nashua; a daughter, Denise Winchester, of Glasgow; two sons, Mark Bengochea and his wife, Kristina, of Nashua and Jon Bengochea and his wife, Erika, of Glasgow; seven grandchildren, Mack and Mitchel Winchester, Anthony and Sean Bengochea, and Griffin, Calvin, and Sophia Bengochea; one sister, Mary Theresa Buchmann, of Fort Peck; and several nieces and nephews.

Vigil services were recited Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. at the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Nashua, and funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Glasgow, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
