Charlotte Mae Anne Tipton

Charlotte Mae Anne (Weltz) Tipton, 78, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, Mont.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at the Evangelical Church in Glasgow, followed by interment in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow.

She was born May 25, 1936, in Glasgow, the daughter of Lars Eric and Mary Dolores (Johnson) Weltz. She was raised in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High School in 1954. She enjoyed being a cheerleader.

On March 19, 1955, she married Edgar Tipton in Glasgow. Ed was in the Air Force commuting to Opheim while Char was working for Tork's Drug Store. After Ed was discharged from the Air Force in 1955, they lived in St. Louis for a year, and then returned to Glasgow. Ed worked for the US Weather Bureau for a year and then they moved to Santa Monica, Calif., for three years before and finally settling in Glasgow. She worked for Mountain Bell Telephone in the 1960s and later for Valley Drug, Killions and Johnny's Café.

She and Ed had two sons, Bob, who was born in St. Louis on March 19, 1956, and Dennis, who was born in Glasgow on April 23, 1961.

She enjoyed bridge, golf, water aerobics, crocheting afghans, baking and the Hospital Guild. She was very active in the Evangelical Church in Glasgow. Her life was being Gramma and Great-Gramma ("GG"). She was a constant part of their lives. Her family gave her joy in life.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Dolores Nass West; and one brother, Walter Dahl.

Survivors include her husband, Ed Tipton of Glasgow; two sons, Bob Tipton and his wife, Candy, of Helena, and Dennis Tipton and his wife, Ann, of Billings; five grandchildren, Travis and his wife, Alishia, Andrew and his wife, Hallie, Amber and her husband, Andy, Sam, and Kelly; and four great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Kynzlie, Keldyn, and Dacre.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow is in charge of arrangements.
