Post 3107 Plans Homecoming Gala For Favorite Son

Local VFW Post 3107 member Art Widhalm was elected and sworn in as the Montana state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars at its 92nd annual convention in Great Falls on Sunday, June 15.

He married Marilyn Murphy of Glasgow in 1968. They met while he was stationed at Glasgow Air Force Base in 1967 and 1968 after a tour in Vietnam. They returned to Glasgow when he retired and now reside at St. Marie.

He became active in the VFW upon his retirement and served as commander of Post 3107 in Glasgow from 2000-09. He was district commander for three terms before moving up to the department level. He will be at the helm of the Department of Montana until June 2015.

VFW Post 3107 is hosting a "homecoming" dinner in his honor on June 28 at the VFW Post. The cocktail hour begins at 4 p.m. The first dinner seating is at 5 and the second at 6.
