Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Gene E. Crawford

Gene E. Crawford, 62, died Friday, May 2, 2014, after a three-year battle with cancer.

He was born in Glendive on Aug. 2, 1951, to Glen and Katherine Crawford. He served our country in Vietnam before marrying Linda Robert in 1972. They were married until 2002 and had one daughter, Amy Jean Crawford. She married Joe Fabian in 1993 and blessed them with four wonderful grandchildren.

Gene was a hard-working man. He worked most of his life as a vehicle mechanic, specializing in imports. He most recently drove truck for United Oil Field Services.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, but mostly fishing for walleye. He was president of Walleyes Unlimited for a term and fished the Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament for its first 20 years. He never won it, but he consistently placed in the top and caught the biggest fish of the tournament twice. One is mounted and still hangs in the El Cor Del Lanes bowling alley in Glasgow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Katherine Crawford; and one nephew, Thomas Hostetler.

Survivors include his daughter, Amy Fabian, and her husband, Joe; one grandson, Andrew; three granddaughters, Cayman, Ava and Jasmine; an ex-wife, Linda Taffs: four sisters, Glenette Crawford, Kathy Johnson, Joyce Hostetler, and Gloria Vaughn; seven nieces, Jaci Johnson, Candi Ross, Brandy Hickman, Cassandra Hostetler, Elizabeth Chamberlin, Amanda Beall, Emma Vaughn: and two nephews Marc Perry and Austin Perry.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial to honor his life is scheduled for Aug. 2, 2014 in Glasgow.
