Scottie Softball On A Roll

The Glasgow softball team continues to mow through their opponents as they are now 5-0 on the season.

Scotties Head Coach Mark Falcon acknowledged the good start his team is on, but said they’re far from where he wants them to be.

“We started off pretty well,” Falcon said. “We know what we need to work on. We haven’t had time to have defensive practices yet, but we need to be moving a little more on our bunting and fly balls.”

Falcon said that the Scotties are hitting just fine at the plate although he would like to see his team executing more on their bunting. Through five games, the Scotties have only laid down one bunt so far.

The Scotties are being led by Shyla Bergtoll on the mound and are seeing productive outings from freshman Tyra Johnson.

Falcon said that he likes the competitiveness of Johnson and thinks that once she gets through her little rough patches with location, she will be an asset to this year’s team and beyond.

“She just needs to focus on her fundamentals and hit her spots a little more,” said Falcon. The Scotties will face CMR on Thursday which a Class AA school.

“Their coach there is probably one of the best pitchers Montana has ever had, so I’m sure we’ll be facing some great pitching.”

The Scotties then start conference schedule on Friday at the Conrad Invitational.
