Walleyes Bazaar & Banquet The Catch Of The Day

The Valley Event Center was packed with vendors from wall to wall this past Saturday as the Glasgow/Fort Peck chapter of Walleyes Unlimited held it's annual bazaar.

Newly elected President of the local chapter, Seth Morehouse said that an event of this magnitude takes months of preparation.

"We have 52 vendors here at the bazaar this year which is right around normal for us," Morehouse said.

The real highlight of the event took place later in the evening as a banquet was put on by the chapter in which guests who bought tickets were treated to a Walleye dinner.

"We have a whole bunch of prizes we give away at the banquet," Morehouse said. "All of the prizes we raffle off are donated by people in the community. I would say about 80 percent of everything that is given away as a prize is donated by the community."

Morehouse explained that the local chapter of Walleyes Unlimited likes to keep all of the money they raise and put it back into the community.

"Our biggest project that I'm trying to fund is the fish cleaning station that used to be at the marina," Morehouse said.

He explained that a project like this would cost in the ballpark of $49,000 for a new fish cleaning station.

To date, Morehouse said that they're sitting at about $10,000 already raised for the fish cleaning station.

Morehouse said that in his eyes, the turnout for the bazaar and the tickets sold for the banquet already made the event a complete success.

"I think when the community sees what our chapter does for this community and the events we put on, that's what really draws them out as their way of saying thanks."
