Tester Comments On Dry Prairie Funding

Sen. Jon Tester released the following statement this week after the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (B.O.R.) announced Fort Peck/Dry Prairie Rural Water System and Rocky Boy’s/North Central Montana Regional Water System together will receive roughly $11 million toward completion of their water projects:

“These investments will support Montana jobs and improve the quality of life for folks from Box Elder to Plentywood,” Tester said. “Increasing access to clean drinking water is critical to strengthening rural Montana, and I will keep pushing to get these water systems built as soon as possible.”

Fort Peck/Dry Prairie will receive an additional $4.9 million and Rocky Boy’s/North Central will receive an additional $6 million in Fiscal Year 2014. The funding comes in response to Tester’s recent letter to B.O.R. Commissioner Mike Connor that urged him to invest in the two Montana projects, Tester's office said in a release.

Tester, who sits on the Senate Appropriations Committee, has secured nearly $4.3 million for Fort Peck/Dry Prairie and $5.3 million for Rocky Boy’s/North Central in Fiscal Year 2014. Tester plans to take Interior Secretary Sally Jewell, whose department oversees the Bureau of Reclamation, on a tour of the Fort Peck project next week.
