Lady Raiders 16-2 On Season
Scobey came to Hinsdale last Friday to contest the mettle of the Hinsdale Raiders and discovered Hinsdale’s mettle is metal. It was the last home game ever for Hinsdale’s three senior girls, Whitney Molina, Bethany Lacock and Chadaya Christensen who were all honored during senior night.
The Lady Raiders with three seniors, one junior and one sophomore in the starting roles were ably assisted by one junior, one freshman and three eighth-graders on the bench.
The Lady Raiders went into this game in second place in conference with an 11-2 record (15-2 overall.)
Head Coach Ralph Ellsworth puts it this way. “They aren’t in the best of shape but my seniors always step it up a notch when needed and I am real happy with the younger players.”
The Scobey girls played hard, but Hinsdale’s defense as usual smothered the Lady Spartan’s scoring attempts holding them to just 25 points.
After a slow start Molina put up good numbers scoring 17 points while adding four steals and four assists to her stat line.
Lacock added nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists and contributed three steals.
Christensen hit for nine points including a 3-pointer. She also had six rebounds and two assists and was a perfect 2-2 from the line.
Delaney Beil scored big with two 3-pointers, one deuce and went perfect from the charity stripe with 6-6. Courtney Capdeville added a couple points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Eighth grader Casity Boucher got into the record book hitting a free throw.
Final score: Lady Raiders 52 and the Lady Spartans 25.
Next up for Hinsdale was the lady Bearcubs of Frazer. That game ended 49-20 in favor of Hinsdale when the Lady Raiders jumped out to a 17-5 first quarter lead. I can’t explain the second quarter when both teams scored just two points each.
The Lady Raiders won the third quarter 13-3 and 17-10 in the fourth.
Molina scored 15, Lacock had 12, Christensen 10, Capdeville two, Mickayla Johnson two and Delaney Beil eight.
And thus ended the regular season for the Lady Raiders of Hinsdale 12-2 conference and 16-2 overall. They are looking to avenge their two losses to Saco/WW during the district tournament to be held in Wolf Point this weekend.
That’s it for now folks. Thanks for listening.
