Ray Allen Schneider

Ray Allen Schneider, 74, of Glasgow passed away from natural causes on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow.

He was born in Glasgow to Walter F. and Evelyn F. (Meek) Schneider on Feb. 8, 1939. They ranched and farmed in the Tampico area along the Milk River and Buggy Creek. He attended grade school at the one-room schoolhouse in Tampico. After graduating from high school in Glasgow, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received the rank of Corporal. He served for four years until he received an honorable discharge in 1962.

During his earlier years, he was adventurous and got involved in rodeo as a bull rider and traveled with friends and family to various events. His skills as a mechanic were often employed with his ranching and farming and other jobs that he held. He used his artistic skills in drawing, painting and doing ceramic work, and especially enjoyed being outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Evelyn; and a son, Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Donna; a stepson, Larry Longmore, of Topeka, Kan .; a daughter, Doris Ozark, and her husband, Dewayne, of Glasgow, and their children, Ashley Barrett and her husband, Chance, and Walter Ozark and his wife, Billie, of Saco ,; and a son, Rev. Father Michael Schneider of Forsyth. Other stepchildren during his life were Ronnie Cumber of Bridger, Randy Cumber of Glasgow and Richie Cumber of Baker.

Funeral services were celebrated Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Glasgow, followed by interment at the Nashua Cemetery in Nashua. A reception was held at the VFW Post 3107.

Bell Mortuary of Glasgow was in charge of arrangements.
