Glasgow Wrestling Ready For More

Scotties Come Out Of Break Looking To Finish Season Strong

Glasgow wrestling enjoyed a nice winter break, but the break is just about over as the team heads back into the gym to prepare for its match against Malta on Jan. 2.

Scotties head coach Trevor Newman says that the season so far has included a lot of learning and getting in proper shape. Newman is encouraged by his team’s progress so far and only sees more progress being made the rest of the year.

“I thought the Great Falls tournament was a huge confidence booster for several of our wrestlers,” Newman said. “Cody King has really emerged as a leader for the team.”

King, who has compiled a record of 19-5 so far on the season, is quickly making a name for himself in the 132 pound weight class.

Also catching the eye of Newman early in the year are Tanner Roness and Kevin Frigon.

Roness has progressed nicely since stepping onto the mat for the first time ever this season. Roness finished with a 3-2 record at the Great Falls tournament, which was good enough to give him fourth place in the 195 pound weight class.

Frigon went 1-2 in the 170 pound weight class but did not place.

Newman said that the break was much needed as a few of his wrestlers are still dinged up from practices and meets, but none of the injuries seem to threaten to keep any of the wrestlers off the mat for any extended period of time.
