A Brush With The Past

Like most of us, I am thinking of gifts for Christmas. I think that men are the hardest to buy for, which brought to mind hair brushes, of all things.

Do you remember when an appropriate gift for the men in your life was a nice hair brush set that came in a genuine leather zipper case?

It seems that there were two brushes in the case. Was this one for each hand, or maybe one of them was a clothes brush to be used on those three-piece suits that were worn then.

Of course very few men had long hair at that time, so I am not getting a mental picture of the use at all. These brushes were an oblong shape and probably boasted the fact that they were made with all natual bristles.

I am sure that the female of the house got the job of cleaning these hair brushes but wonder if she had a set schedule for doing the job. Now the gals all washed their combs and brushes about once a week, as it was done at the same time you washed your hair for the week.

Anyway, I doubt that any of you readers will have that on your list, but it is an interesting thought. I can imagine the thoughts and comments of the receiver if they did find one under the tree.
