Dream Team Rounds Up A Third Place

On Saturday, Nov. 23, the Glasgow High School Speech and Drama team competed in the Roundup B & C Invitational against 13 other teams. It is not often that Glasgow is able to compete against southern teams such as Sweetgrass, Columbus and White Sulfur Springs.

The next time Glasgow will see these teams will be at the State B competition early in 2014, which is being hosted in Glasgow.

The team brought home the third-place trophy for Drama. This is due to the efforts of our remarkable drama competitors, including Kylie Cook who took home the first place medal for serious solo for the third straight meet with her piece “The Button.”

In addition, Michaela Cathey was particularly remarkable, improving on her previous pantomime placement from last week at third to second place this week.

Individual placements in Drama were:

• Pantomime: Bridger Sanders –third

• Serious Solo: Amanda Kresal – fourth

• Serious Duo: Kat Geer and Kayla Harrington – third

• Humorous Duo: Amanda McDonald and Paige Schmidt – fifth

James Fauth and Rachel Overby also competed in Humorous Duo.

On the speech side, Rac hel Sigmundstad again placed second in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation.

A new team member, Amber O’Mara competed in Humorous Oral Interpretation and placed fourth overall against 12 other competitors.

Individual placements in Speech were:

• Humorous Oral Interpretation: Andy Brandt – sixth.

• Serious Oral Interpretation: Ethan Jamba – third.

• Spontaneous Oral Interpretation: Maria Morris – fourth.

• Original Oratory: Max Knodel – third.

Also competing in speech was Sija Laffin in Serious Oral Interpretation

The team will be home for the Thanksgiving break, but will be competing next in Havre on Saturday the Dec.7.
